T oday I realized I haven’t been updating my travel blog as much as I should or like to. I’ve come back to this blog several times with a post idea and ultimately ended up not writing anything, mostly due to being tired or wanting/needing to work on something else.
Travel blogging isn’t as easy as it looks sometimes. Between keeping the site updated, analytics in place, editing photos, writing and editing posts, it can be a time consuming process. I look at other great travel blogs like Wandering Earl or Nomadic Matt and think about how awesome it is that they’ve come so far just from travel blogging.
I know that their success hasn’t been without a lot of hard work put into their sites and writing and I know I’ll never achieve the same level of success if I don’t consistently stay at. Sometimes, with everything in life going on, it’s hard to stay committed, I admit.
Last month Yahoo!, my main source of income that allowed me to work from anywhere in the world and make a decent income to live and travel, greatly downsized forcing me to look at other job options and put long term travel on hold for the time being. I was feeling pretty down for awhile but in the past couple of weeks things are looking up. I have new freelance work and I’m planning a big backpacking trip for the end of 2013 including India and SE Asia.
I know I posted before about going to France this spring for a writer’s retreat but I don’t know if I’ll be going due to being too busy with other things.I’m moving to New York this spring or early summer and between the move and saving for the big trip later this year taking 3 weeks off to go to France might not be feasible. However, I do have smaller trips planned such as possibly going to London for a few days this month. With everything else finally looking up for 2013 (new job, new travel plans) I need to recommit myself to my travel blog. I’m not going to make any promises of how much I’ll update but you’ll be seeing much more of me. That’s all I’ll say for now. Stay tuned…
